Featured vendor Grace Harbor Farms Grace Harbor Farms, Inc. has been producing the finest goat milk soap
products and marketing them successfully throughout the United States
and Canada since 1999. Their mission is to produce products with care
and integrity, and to deliver them to their customers at a reasonable
price. The natural ingredients in goat's milk nourish and replenish the skin. Goat's milk soap has proved safe and beneficial for people with many kinds of skin problems including acne, psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema. Studies in nursing homes have shown that goat's milk soap is beneficial for the skin care for elderly people. Goat milk is uniquely different from cow milk in the concentration and forms of its nutrients. Compared with cow milk, goat milk contains 13% more calcium, 25% more vitamin B6, 47% more vitamin A, 134% more potassium and 350% more niacin. It is also higher in chloride, copper and manganese. One of the primary misconceptions concerning goat milk is that it has a peculiar ''goaty'' odor or taste to it. This effect is produced by the presence of the buck, whose scent glands are rather odoriferous and may indeed cause the ''goaty'' type of milk people object to if he is present among the herd, especially at milking time. Does, however, do not have the powerful odor of the buck and milk produced in the absence of a buck should bear no objectionable odor. I visited the farm on a number of occasions and once with my 3 year old
granddaughter. The milking goats are separate form the herd and are in
a clean and airy enclosure. The babies and non-milking goats are in a
nearby area of the farm and love to be petted! The dairy, soap and lotion-making
facilities are located in a building next to the farmhouse. Everything
is neat and tidy and the setting is breath-taking – right on the
shore of northern Puget Sound called Drayton Harbor. http://www.babynut.com/index2.cfm?page=_level1&cid1=19. To see all of Grace Harbor Farms’ products, please go to: http://www.graceharborfarms.com/ |
